We mentored several teams during the pandemic. Helping Gowanus, Clinton Hill & Hell's Kitchen bring Free Stores into their communities.
The Free Store Project is here to help.
Let us know if you need assistance, Blueprints or other support-
we've got you!
Thank you for donating your time & talents to displaced/unhoused LGBTQ youth. The Free Store Project x Coz Salon x Otis & Finn Barbershop teamed up to provide cuts, fades and confidence to homeless teens & LGBTQ youth.
To donate supplies, time or other support - we'd love to have your help.
Over the past year our efforts have created a framework to sustain the neighborhoods around each location. A system where sharing, reducing waste and acts of Love ensure no one is left behind, so everyone can thrive. While we are actual experts at resourcefulness and upcycling, even sustainability requires basic expenses. We’d love your help. Donate today.
Located on the corner of Greenpoint Ave & Eckford, we've taken over!
A year in photos, signs, notes from our community members and students from past events. Lots to see in order to inspire.
Check it out and grab a pen and paper from the Free Store's
Love Letter care pouch.

In order to be accessible to the public and meet the needs of our communities- our Free Stores are outdoor and open 24/7, in ALL weather conditions. It takes a toll, and when something breaks, we need to fix it to keep everyone safe, so we're fundraising!
As this work continues we learn more about the scope of what is needed, we know it can’t be achieved on elbow grease alone. We’re hoping to raise funds to establish a Free Store Project headquarters, secure transportation and improve daily upkeep of our four stores to better serve all those we do.
The talented volunteers and friends of The Free Store Project have been busy creating some incredible one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces. Artwork and wares- just for you! Items range from hand-poured scented soy candles to creations as masterful and eclectic as our Stores & patrons themselves! Items come with a bit of history of our project, in celebration of our journey.
Each purchase fuels our purpose- all proceeds help us repair and restock our four locations and bring Free Store magic to other boroughs. With each location we help useful items find more loving arms instead of incinerators.
It’s impossible to showcase ALL the possibilities imaginable, but it's our hope to inspire people to donate, not dump- so check out upcycled crafts!
It’s impossible to showcase ALL the possibilities imaginable, but this little work-of-art is a beautiful reflection of different ways pre-loved items gain new life after they leave our shelves. Our talented volunteers and friends have created some incredible one-of-a-kind pieces. We hope to inspire people to restore, donate & not dump- check out our Upcycled items on Insta today!
